20,000 foot view

This report presents a holistic view of entertainment behaviour for music, video, games, social, and audio. Traditionally, entertainment services report users in terms of monthly, and occasionally weekly or daily users. This report goes much deeper into user behaviour by additionally measuring how many times a day consumers use apps as well as when and where. The data thus provides an unparalleled view of entertainment consumers and where different formats fit into their daily lives.

Key data and insights included in this report:

  • Analysis of consumers time spent on different entertainment formats, including listening to music and other audios, streaming video, playing games, and social media

  • In-depth analysis of the times of day entertainment verticals are most popularly used (e.g., morning, lunchtime, evening, and bedtime / nighttime)
  • Comparison of vertical app usage while at work, while exercising, on their commute, etc.
  • A breakdown of penetration of music, audio, and video streaming apps, social media usage, and games genres played
  • Comparison of average number of times the apps are used across verticals

Survey data is based on MIDiA Research Consumer Surveys Q3 2023. Data is available by all consumers, by age, by gender and by weekly active user base of the services above. Countries in scope of this report include US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Thailand, and Colombia.
