Creator Economy Analyst
We are looking for a Creator Economy Industry Analyst to join our expert analyst team.
MIDiA Research is the leading global authority in music, the creator economy and cross-entertainment. We help our world class client base understand the business, culture and future of entertainment and fandom so that they can continue to build winning strategies.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The world of entertainment has never experienced such profound and rapid change. No single entertainment industry can afford to stay solely in its lane. Cross-entertainment competition for attention and the rise of the creator economy are reshaping the future of entertainment business, consumption, and culture.
We are looking for someone who understands these dynamics, has a clear view of how entertainment value chains operate, and brings bold, forward-looking ideas with a genuine curiosity for what comes next.
The successful candidate will deepen MIDiA’s reputation for rigorous and original analysis by expanding our Creator Economy coverage. Your work will sit at the intersection of consumer insight and industry strategy — translating complex market dynamics into clear, actionable intelligence for senior decision makers at the world’s leading media and entertainment companies.
You will cover topics such as audience behaviour, fandom and identity, entertainment culture, market sizing and business model innovation across the Creator Economy and adjacent entertainment verticals. You will channel this expertise to produce insightful reports that power MIDiA’s syndicated research membership service.
We’re looking for a sharp, analytical thinker who can craft industry shaping concepts, and provide thought leadership in this exciting space. You must also be highly data literate and able to construct clear, insightful and actionable narratives around data, identifying the ‘why’ not just the ‘what’.
We are looking for someone who is able to analyse the Creator Economy industry as a whole, across all its formats and categories. You’ll analyse the industry with both breadth and depth, tracking structural shifts, emerging players and evolving consumer and creator behaviours.
In this role you will:
- Identify where value is being created and captured across the Creator Economy ecosystem — from individual creators and fan communities to platforms, studios and brands
- Analyse the consumer side of the creator economy: how and why people engage with creator content, what drives loyalty and fandom, and how creators build sustainable audiences and businesses
- Identify strategic opportunities for clients between creators, social platforms, traditional broadcasters and other entertainment formats and advise clients how to act on them
Reporting directly to MIDiA’s Head of Research and Consulting this is an opportunity to directly shape the strategic thinking of some of the world’s most successful and influential companies in entertainment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce high-quality client-ready deliverables including reports, data decks, briefing and blogs
- Contribute to MIDiA’s thought leadership and public facing commentary (LinkedIn, press quotes)
- Consistently keeping ahead of trends and developments across the Creator Economy industry
- Conducting company, industry, and consumer research to create regular output for our syndicated research membership service
- Using data, observations, and patterns to develop and test hypotheses that drive value for stakeholders interested in the Creator Economy
- Working with MIDiA’s membership clients on bespoke enquiries as well as supporting larger bespoke Creator Economy related consulting projects
- Becoming one of MIDiA’s thought leaders both internally and externally - presenting cutting-edge ideas and research to relevant audiences (incl. at conferences, in media and press, writing blogs, participating in MIDiA’s webinars)
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & CHARACTER TRAITS
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the creator and entertainment industry, and the consumer behaviours and attitudes that shape it
- Strong business acumen and solid understanding of how for-profit companies operate
- The ability to spot patterns and think ahead to identify second- and third- order implications of an event
- The ability to analyse and separate symptoms from causes
- The ability to distil complex concepts and research into digestible and actionable insight and stories
- A decent understanding of and the ability to interpret financial statements
- An adeptness to work under time pressure while providing high quality output
- Excellent English writing and communication skills
Experience:
- A university degree
- Minimum 3 years of experience in either a strategy, research, insight, industry analyst, or consultant role. Ideally, in a digital entertainment, media, research, consulting, industry news outlet, or financial sector company
- Desk research
- Reading and interpreting consumer surveys and market data to create insights
- Ability to communicate with and write for senior stakeholders
- Experience across MS Office suite
Personality:
- Genuine knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Creator Economy — you understand creators, the tools they use, and think about the business models underpinning independent creation
- Curious, with an inclination to ask business-critical questions and drive towards evidence-based answers
- A personable nature with excellent listening and observation skills
- A solid understanding of and passion for the business of wider entertainment industries
- A diligent, efficient and organised character who can prioritise and be accountable for their own workload, coupled with the ability to work seamlessly within a diverse team
- A meticulous approach to all work, completed to high quality
- Comfortable working independent in a remote-first environment, managing multiple deadlines across research and consulting workstreams
